Porter's Blessing

Given by Luke Phillips and encircled by Marc Phillips, Cody Phillips, and Weston Smith.  Mother's Day, May 14, 2023.

Our Father in Heaven, by the authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood which we hold, we give this infant a name and a blessing.  The name we have chosen is Porter Smith Phillips.  Porter, we give you a blessing both from your earthly and heavenly parents.  We bless you, Porter, with strength, kindness, and love.  We bless you to follow the example of our Savior.  Porter, we chose this name for a few different reasons.  We want you to be a gatekeeper of truth.  We want you to be able to bear the burdens of others and want you to do this in your lifetime with a smile on your face and with a positive outlook on life.  We bless you to be healthy, both physically and mentally.  We bless you to be spiritually strong.  We bless you with the spirit of discernment, that's ever so important in this day and age.  Porter, there was a man long ago also with the name Porter that protected the prophet, Joseph Smith and we bless you to protect truth, eternal truth.  Heavenly Father will help you in that effort as well as your friends and family here in this mortal life.  We bless you, Porter, to learn and grow; to learn precept by precept, step by step.  We bless you with a freedom from worry and fear.  We bless you to be able to find eventually a righteous spouse and find true happiness, not only in this life, but in the next.  We bless you with all of these things and any that Heavenly Father has in store for you, and we know that there are many.  We say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
